The 1.5 TSI is set to be the biggest seller, and we found it to be powerful enough with well-insulated engine noise unless pushed hard, at which point it becomes a bit coarse. In addition to the regular petrol range is a 48-volt mild-hybrid version of each of the petrols, badged eTSI, available only with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox .
Looking at a 2021 Jetta R-Line with the 6-speed manual transmission to use as a commuter car/daily driver. I’d like some opinions on the 1.4T engine. Thanks in advance. Not sure how these go in different continents but if it is EA211 engine family then it is reliable. Those have timing belt so no chain issues anymore.

Stock turbo limits on the 1.5TFSi as fitted to the 35 TFSi is around 190hp with the turbo running at around 1.68bars. The key in choosing a turbo for the EA211 is to get one that flows well at fairly low rpms. The 1.4 engines will not flow as much as a 2.0 for example, making many larger turbos feel quite laggy.
I have a Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI (150 SEL) estate on a PCP (0%) which comes to an end in a couple of months, it has 40K on the clock on a 65 plate. Most of it’s mileage has been done on motorways

It might be worth taking a Leon for a test drive with some ballast (passengers) to give you an idea.
Unlike the previous version, which was powered by a 130bhp 1.9 TDI unit, the new version gets the Volkswagen Group’s 1.4 TSI turbo and supercharged engine producing 178bhp and 184lb ft. Watch
